A-Mttp −/− mice are protected from HFD induced fatty liver. Control Mttp fl/fl and A-Mttp −/− mice were fed 60 % HFD for 24 weeks. At the end of an experiment, overnight fasted animals were scarified and livers were collected (a), weighed (b) and fixed in paraffin and stored at −80 °C until use for H & E staining (c). Liver and intestine were homogenized and analyzed for triglyceride (d), cholesterol (e), and free fatty acid (f). Transaminase activities were measured on fasting plasma from five mice (g & h). ***, p < 0.05; **, p < 0.01 and ***, p < 0.001; and data are mean ± SD (N = 7)
