  1. Continuous and categorical variables were expressed as the means ± standard deviation (SD) and percentages (%), respectively. Data for FPG, FINS, HOMA-IR, TG, ALT, AST and ALT/AST were skewed and were presented as medians (interquartile range). The Mann-Whitney U test and the Student t test were used for non-normally and normally distributed continuous variables, respectively, and the Pearson χ2 test was used for categorical variables
