From: Maternal DHA-rich n-3 PUFAs supplementation interacts with FADS genotypes to influence the profiles of PUFAs in the colostrum among Chinese Han population: a birth cohort study

Fig. 2

Effects of the 26 SNPs in the fatty acid desaturases and elongases on the profiles of PUFAs in the colostrum. A presented the linkage disequilibrium (LD) between the 26 SNPs in the Fads1, Fads2, Fads3, Elvol2 and Elvol5 and fatty acid synthesis (r2 × 100). B showed the profiles of n-6 PUFAs (LA, AA and AA/LA). C presented the profiles of n-3 PUFAs (ALA, EPA, DHA, EPA/ALA, DHA/ALA and DHA/EPA). Note: In the Fig. 2B and 2C, red, blue and green respectively demonstrated there were positive, negative and no significant associations between the 26 SNPs and the profiles of n-6 and n-3 PUFAs. Fads Fatty acid desaturases, Elovl Elongase of very long chain fatty acid, PUFAs Polyunsaturated fatty acids, SNPs Single nucleotide polymorphisms, LA Linoleic acid, AA Arachidonic acid, ALA α-Linolenic acid, EPA Eicosapentaenoic acid, DHA Docosahexaenoic acid
