(A) Epididymal fat pad weight was significantly greater in KD rats after 4 and 8 weeks of diet exposure (p < 0.05). This difference was no longer present 8 weeks after the diet switch (experimental week 16). The level of β-hydroxybutyrate present in blood (B) was significantly increased (p < 0.01) after one week of exposure to the ketogenic diet, but not after rats were switched from the ketogenic diet to chow (week 9).
