Sitagliptin exacerbates hepatic oxidative stress in rats fed a high Cho diet. SD rats were fed Con, Cho, or MetCho diets ad libitum. As described in methods, from day 10 to 35, 50% of rats in each dietary group were gavaged with either vehicle or an aqueous suspension of sitagliptin (100mg/kg/day). Representative IHC images of rat liver sections using anti-4 HNE antibody where 4-HNE adducts indicative of oxidative stress are evident in high Cho group gavaged with sitagliptin (3D).
